View Full Version : Game of Thrones Draft: Conquering Westeros

06-30-2015, 01:26 AM

The purpose of this draft is to select a monarch to build around as each of us forms a support system around that monarch to claim Westeros. All characters from the show are available, be they living or dead, and you can select any of them from any point in the shows' narrative. For instance, if you were to select Jaime Lannister, it's up to you whether you want him to have his hand or not. In addition, all dead characters are available. If you want to build around Robert Baratheon, you can. The only limits on this draft are as follows:

You will select a single Monarch to claim Westeros as King or Queen. You will select a Hand to be by their side as second in command. You will select four Council members to advise them. You will select four Kingsguard to protect them. And you will choose a Spouse for your Monarch.

You do not specifically need to select a Master of Coin, a Grand Maester, or any one individual council position - that's entirely up to how you want to build around your monarch. "Council" is also a very loose term. If you want to draft someone to fuck their way to information for you - go for it. If you want to draft someone to sneak into enemy territory to complete a task - thats your call. The only hard rule with the council is that they must serve some sort of use to the monarch other than being there purely for protection. Any character from the show can be taken for any position, though some are obviously better suited for one spot over the others.

Again, everyone throughout the shows five seasons are available, so choose your eleven wisely, lest you fail in your quest to win the game of thrones ;)

06-30-2015, 04:11 PM
there arent enough characters in the show to add more people (11 people per roster) or id open it up

06-30-2015, 04:15 PM
I know they are all inferior but someone can replace me. Going to be busy the next couple weeks and stool running the 2k sim

06-30-2015, 04:16 PM
Grizz can take it. I like to watch.

06-30-2015, 04:37 PM
First of Grizz/Paul/McGee to claim the spot will get it

06-30-2015, 04:39 PM

06-30-2015, 04:43 PM
k grizz you can pick, unless hodor is your pick, in which case Paul you can pick :P

06-30-2015, 04:48 PM
I'd love to take Hodor first but I have to go with the obvious choice here:

06-30-2015, 05:08 PM
I select the Lord of Casterly Rock and the Warden of the West, Tywin Lannister

06-30-2015, 05:23 PM

The Red Viper of Dorne.

06-30-2015, 05:43 PM

06-30-2015, 05:44 PM
I'm pretty sure we all wanted Varys.

06-30-2015, 05:52 PM
I almost took him at one. I really wanted to.

06-30-2015, 06:07 PM
Jaime Lannister. 2-Handed

06-30-2015, 06:12 PM
Daenerys 'Stormborn' Targaryen

06-30-2015, 06:29 PM
Margaery Tyrell

06-30-2015, 06:53 PM

Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell, Warden of the North

06-30-2015, 06:58 PM
The Red Priestess, Lady Melisandre of Asshai

06-30-2015, 07:12 PM

Jon Snow

Lady Olenna Tyrell

06-30-2015, 07:23 PM
Really struggling with picking one person over the rest here, will be a few before my indecisive ass makes a choice.

06-30-2015, 07:23 PM
Better not snipe my pick

06-30-2015, 07:27 PM
I definitely struggled picking there. It's tough for me to separate books/show and make choices based entirely on the show, haha.

06-30-2015, 07:29 PM
I definitely struggled picking there. It's tough for me to separate books/show and make choices based entirely on the show, haha.

Definitely same.

06-30-2015, 07:51 PM
Im getting real excited for DG here. If he picks the right person with his next pick this thing will literally be over already.

Also, there are 3 people who absolutely should have been picked by now.

06-30-2015, 07:54 PM
Man don't put that pressure on me.

/me accidentally takes rickon

06-30-2015, 08:07 PM
"Littlefinger" Petyr Baelish

06-30-2015, 08:09 PM
Sniped and with the same picture

06-30-2015, 08:10 PM

06-30-2015, 08:14 PM

Robert Baratheon

06-30-2015, 08:15 PM

I love Robert.

06-30-2015, 08:20 PM
Okay this is actually pretty interesting. More things like this!

06-30-2015, 08:21 PM
I should have taken Baelish but I just hate him. Easily my most hated character, couldn't bring myself to take him.

06-30-2015, 08:28 PM
Davos Seaworth

06-30-2015, 10:30 PM
Jeor Mormont

Jaqen H'ghar

06-30-2015, 11:33 PM

06-30-2015, 11:38 PM
Nerv is looking strong right now.

06-30-2015, 11:48 PM

Ser Barristan Selmy

07-01-2015, 12:02 AM
Don't take my pick(s) commie...

07-01-2015, 12:15 AM
The Young Wolf Robb Stark, King in the North

07-01-2015, 12:35 AM
FUCK, sniped with my picture and everything.

07-01-2015, 12:39 AM
making a habit of this

youll pay me back soon, im sure

07-01-2015, 12:42 AM
I foresee lots more sniping in this drafts near future.

07-01-2015, 12:48 AM
well, I'm sticking with my one pick so I'll post that, still regrouping for the second:

07-01-2015, 12:50 AM
Good pick, was considering him

07-01-2015, 12:58 AM
I can't decide so fuck it, I'm taking a reach:

Wun Wun!

07-01-2015, 12:59 AM
That is amazing. For monarch yes?

07-01-2015, 01:02 AM
Love it!

07-01-2015, 01:13 AM
Stannis Baratheon

07-01-2015, 01:16 AM

Syrio Forel, former First Sword of Braavos

07-01-2015, 01:20 AM
Wun Wun would be perfect for guarding a set space, but I feel like he'd be terrible for guarding someone traveling anywhere.

07-01-2015, 01:46 AM
Brienne of Tarth

07-01-2015, 01:58 AM
Tormund Giantsbane

07-01-2015, 02:02 AM
Now we're getting somewhere.

07-01-2015, 02:03 AM
Wow... half my team is still undrafted right now if I could just pick who I want!

To be fair.... half of everyones team is undrafted right now ;)

07-01-2015, 03:42 AM
Daario Naharis

07-01-2015, 06:19 AM
To be fair.... half of everyones team is undrafted right now ;)

Haha no doubt... but you've all picked half a team and not even hit half those I would take, no idea how you're going to judge this though!

07-01-2015, 11:20 AM
It's kind of weird, there are some amazing characters still available, but they don't really fit into what this particular draft is about, so they're getting left out. Hard to find roles for some people.

Salladhor Saan

07-01-2015, 11:38 AM
Ser Brynden Tully the Blackfish, Warden of the Southern Marches

07-01-2015, 12:57 PM
Khal Drogo should have gone a long time ago. 40,000 bloodriders, he has the 2nd largest freestanding army in the world.

Can't argue the value pick there though. I thought DG should have picked him round 3.

07-01-2015, 12:58 PM
time to fly off the handle...

Roose Bolton!

Yara Greyjoy!

07-01-2015, 01:27 PM
I imagine youre picking Sansa just to flay her alive

07-01-2015, 01:29 PM
haha - I can't make a decision in that spot, I actually kinda want to change it already. I'm really bad at this.

07-01-2015, 01:31 PM
you can change it if you want, im still undecided

07-01-2015, 01:36 PM
okay, I switched to Yara

07-01-2015, 04:22 PM
Also, I knew you'd end up with the blackfish commie haha

07-01-2015, 04:26 PM
gotta pick up blackfish!

07-01-2015, 04:55 PM
Tycho Nestoris

07-01-2015, 05:01 PM

Ser Arys Oakheart

07-01-2015, 05:13 PM
Damix, as a book reader, I am ashamed of you. :p

07-01-2015, 05:15 PM
Ha, I think he is actually better in the books, bangs hot Dornish chicks, rolls with Darkstar.

But in the show, he's the one KG who is "nice" to Sansa

07-01-2015, 05:45 PM
Catelyn Stark, Lady of Winterfell

07-01-2015, 05:46 PM

Doran Martell

and with my final pick, I choose....

The Greatjon, Lord of Last Hearth!

07-01-2015, 05:48 PM
I wanted to take Doran a while ago, but kind of ruined that when i picked The Mountain.

07-01-2015, 06:14 PM
Qhorin Halfhand

07-01-2015, 06:23 PM

Axell Florent

07-01-2015, 06:32 PM
Initial thought is to say no, but in the end it doesn't bother me. Hes "around", just not on screen. So I'll go with whatever other folk say.

07-01-2015, 06:33 PM
Damnit knew I should have taken the half hand last pick.

07-01-2015, 06:34 PM
Seems kinda lame to me!

07-01-2015, 06:36 PM
I had him on my list but removed him because he never made an actual appearance in the show. I don't particularly mind either way, though show watchers won't know how badass he actually is.

07-01-2015, 06:38 PM
Switched to Florent

07-01-2015, 06:46 PM
Rodrik Cassel

07-01-2015, 06:50 PM
So here are my draft rankings:

1) Comahan- I was tempted to go DG here, but at the end of the day Commie provides the 2nd best king-queen combo (Robb-Myrcella) due to very old and historic family names, with the top Hand (Tywin) solid military acumen Robb+Stannis, strong financials (Little finger &Tywin), and 2 people (Mellisandra and Clegane) to do the dirty work.

Weakness: Mellisandra, Tywin, and Littlefinger together is a VERY dangerous game to play. Three of the biggest betrayals to date have been perpetrated by them. I'm not crazy about the idea of them working for a common goal, especially when Mel and Tywin's goals and values don't align.

2) DG- He can easily field the best army out there. He'll have 120,000 well equipped and well funded soldiers (Tyrell+Drogo+Tycho). Maergary is one of the few characters popular enough to allow Drogo to sit on the throne. Plus Varys is probably the wisest character on the entire show, and a truly elite player of the GOT.

However, there is a huge lack of powerful and old houses on this team. This is a fuedal society, and Maergary is the only big house name and the Tyrell's are the newest and arguably the least secure great house in Westeros. Plus if anything happened to Drogo you'd lose his army instantly. I'd argue DG spent too much on characters that bring the same things to the table (Jorah, Brienne, Davos, Daario, Sandor).

3) Nerv- a very strong start with Jamie and Daenarys. Balon Greyjoy, Jaquen H'agar, and Mance Rayder were good values as well. Not a huge fan of the Mormont pick. This team also desperately needs a quality player of the GOT. It's just lacking brains behind the operation, and I have a hard time imagining this team outmanuevering the Tyrion, Varys, Tywin, Olenna, Littlefingers, ect of the world.

4) Damix- at first I was not a fan. Oberyn was a bad 1st round pick, but at the end of the day this is an experienced group. Eddard and Robert have won the throne before. I think Lewin and Selmy are a bit redundant, and I may have gone for someone who can bring magic or soldiers to the table there. Don't love it, don't hate it. Oakhart and Syrio are throwaway picks for me. Deserves 4th.

5) Grizz- I love all of the characters he picked, but there is no strong power base. Tyrion wasn't the best top pick, he is a quality player of the GOT, but I'd argue Varys is better and lacks the same personal vices Tyrion does. Jon Snow while he has amazing bloodlines still has no great power base. I just don't think he'd be able to mobilize a force to contend with some of the others, nor does he have the requisite magic.

07-01-2015, 06:57 PM
woo go me

07-01-2015, 06:57 PM
Nerv hasnt even finished the draft yet!

07-01-2015, 06:59 PM
The Queen
Margaery Tyrell

Her King
Khal Drogo

The Hand
Davos Seaworth

The Council
Master Of Whispers
Lord Varys

Grand Maester
Maester Luwin

Master of Coin
Tycho Nestoris

07-01-2015, 07:01 PM
Strongly disagree, lol

07-01-2015, 07:06 PM
I think what we'll do is:

Each of us post our full side. Writeups encouraged.

Take a few outside rankings, cmarq, vidae, maybe Paul or McGee.

Then each of the drafters PMs me their own 1-4 rankings, leaving out their own group.

Combine them to see who conquered Westeros.

07-01-2015, 07:08 PM
Drogo+Margaery would be the most savage sex scene in history.

07-01-2015, 07:11 PM
You're all welcome.

07-01-2015, 08:30 PM
Having to change my last pick due to a numbers crunch -- Oops!

Samwell Tarly

07-01-2015, 08:38 PM
Well WTH. Am I the only who thought Ramsay would be somewhat useful.

07-01-2015, 08:47 PM
I don't think Ramsay really brings a skill set to the table that is especially useful in the setting this draft is for.

07-01-2015, 09:03 PM
Excuse my writing, I work in IT.

Ned stood waiting for permission to enter the Robert's private chamber. Ser Arys Oakheart guarded the King tonight; for the better Ned thought, Ser Arys would follow the King's orders if it came to it.

Ned looked at the boy he had brought with him. A tall, muscular boy just leaving his adolescence; the similarities were obvious. They had to be. Between the boy and the bundle of scrolls Ned held, the evidence was short on the best day.
Ned asked himself for the hundredth time, can I trust Robert as my friend or have the flatterers poisoned the King's mind past repair? Ned knew it was a useless question, he had no choice. Jon Arryn died for this information and it must be shared.

Ser Arys finally placed his ear to the door, then turned to Ned and motioned him inside. He turned to the boy, who was clearly anxious; "Stay here until called, it will all be over soon" Ned said softly, and how he wished it.

King Robert was sitting at the long table, a feast laid out in front of him. The Queen lounged at the far end of the table, as far from the king as possible, a glass of wine in her hand.
"Ned!" the king boomed across the room, "Seems you've finally decided to leave the Tower of the Hand."
"The kingdom requires more than a little attention, Your Grace" Ned replied, with the hint of a smile despite knowing what was to come next.
"Yes yes, that is why I brought you down from that frozen land you call home." Robert said, also smiling, "Now what couldn't wait until the next small council meeting?"
Ned stated as calmly as possible, “I have the information Jon Arryn was seeking when he died.”
The atmosphere in the room changed completely. The smile slid instantly off Robert’s face, while Cersei, at this point seemingly bored with the exchange sat upright in her chair and began to listen.
“Out with it,” the king choked, “by the gods, out with it Ned.”
Ned knew it was time, he had to be delicate, but the king had to know, “Jon tracked every one of your bastards, Your Grace, and every piece of the Baratheon line.”
Cersei finally came out of her reverie, “What does the king’s whoring have any importance to the seven kingdoms? Despite it being a disgusting habit not fit for a royal line.”
Ned ignored the queen’s question, “Every son of a Baratheon has had dark features and dark hair, and there has been no change since Orys Baratheon.”
The king did not understand, a piece of chicken still in his hand dripping gravy, “What does this have to do – “
Ned cut him off, “Your children are not yours, Your Grace, they are born of incest between the queen and her brother; the kingslayer”
“Filthy lies,” Cersei screamed, “you hand this man a small bit of power and now he is hungry and desperate for more. I demand he be thrown in the dungeons and stripped of his lands and titles.”
The king openly gawked at Ned. His mouth moved to say something, but nothing came out, his shoulders slumped, “You have proof Ned.”
“The best I could find, Your Grace” Ned said, and turned to motion the boy into the room.
The boy entered slowly, the lines of anxiety clearly on his face.
“Who is this?” the king questioned.
“This is what a true son of yours looks like Robert.” Ned answered.

Robert was clearly floored, Ned could see his blood pressure rising. “How could this happen Ned?” the king said, then turning to Cersei with nothing but menace in his voice, “Why did this happen?”
Cersei met his gaze equally, “You are no true king. Your kingdoms starve while you hunt and drink. You openly bed all the whores in Kings Landing, shaming me in the process. I have never loved you and you have never touched me. I thank all the gods my children are pure and not tainted by your blood.”
The king was raging now, “I will squeeze the life out of you myself” and began towards the queen.
Ned quickly stepped in front of his friend, “This is not the way, Your Grace.” Robert stared at him coldly, “Have it your way Ned.” The fury still rising.
“OAKHEART GET IN HERE” the king bellowed, red in the face and breathing hard.
Ser Arys crashed through the door, sword already drawn.
Robert held up one trembling hand and pointed at the queen, “Throw her in the black cells.”
Ser Arys had a moment of confused look on his face, but it quickly passed and he took the queen into custody.

Ned approached Robert at the top of the Red Keep. All of King’s Landing could be seen from this vantage point, though Ned’s eyes were only on the king.
The last three months had done well for Robert, his body slimmed, his eyes clear. Ned knew he needed his old friend at his best. Ned’s late night reveal had set off a chain of events that put the seven kingdoms in a state of civil war. The small council had been disbanded and the governance of the empire was weighing heavily on Ned.
“Your Grace, the reports received have noted the Lannister’s and Tyrell’s have aligned and will march on King’s Landing.”
“I’ve read them as well Ned, do you think I did the right thing?” the king asked.
Ned was not expecting the question. Robert had banished all Lannister bannerman from King’s Landing, but kept Cersei locked in the Red Keep’s dungeons. Jamie Lannister was attempted to be seized but slipped the Gold Cloaks sent after him and escaped to Casterly Rock to support Tywin.
“I believe you did what was just, Your Grace.” Ned said.
“Just and right are two different things Ned, we will have to form alliances to weather this coming war.”
“The north will always be there, you have my word on that.”
“The north will only be a piece of the puzzle.” And Ned noticed for the first time the sheet of paper in the king’s hand.
“What is it my lord?” Ned asked.
“A letter from Dorne” Robert replied.
“Will they support us?”
“They have conditions.”
Ned was expecting as much, “What are they?”
“First they would like the Mountain’s head, for the rape and murder of Elia Martell.”
Ned thought about it, Ser Gregor Clegane had been seen riding through the riverland, putting entire villages to the sword, “That is a fair request, I will send Ser Beric Donddarion with fifty of my personal guard to bring Ser Gregor to justice.”
“Next, Areo Hotah is to be named to the Kingsguard.”
Ned was shocked, “The Protector of Sunspear? He has been protecting Doran since his marriage, this could only mean Doran is coming – “
The king cut him off “Worse. Doran Martell is ridden with gout and cannot travel. Instead he sends his brother in his place, Oberyn.”
Ned couldn’t contain disdain, “The Red Viper of Dorne has a legacy of treachery, poison and cannot be trusted to sit the small council.”
Robert finally met Ned’s eyes, a look of sadness in them, “Oberyn will not be a member of the small council. The final condition is he will lead it as Hand. I am sorry old friend.”

Ned looked over the table as he entered the small council chamber. Oberyn lounged at the far end. While Ned did not trust the man, Oberyn had already proved his worth as a military commander and strategist, winning multiple battles against Tyrell outriders on his way to King’s Landing. The other small squirrely man he did not recognize. He wore a Maester’s robe, but no chain.
Ned’s moment of elation of handing over the title of Hand and returning home to Winterfell and Catelyn was quickly dashed as Robert appointed him Master of War. The king needed him for this war with the Lannisters and his duty was to stay and serve.
Robert entered quickly and waived everyone back to their seats, “We are at war, and when enemies see weakness they pounce. Qyburn here has taken over that Targeryen supporter Varys’ web of spiders and has something to report.”
Qyburn stood and cleared his throat, “Our king speaks the truth, as we prepare for this war, a bird whispered into my ear that Lord Balon Greyjoy has named himself King and sails for Blackwater Bay.”
Ned sat a little straighter, “We are completely unprepared to fight a sea battle, and all of our resources have been placed towards the upcoming battles with the Tyrell’s and Lannisters.”
Qyburn cleared his throat again, “Quite right Lord Stark, but if I may suggest – “
Robert, clearly tired of pleasantries “Tell us your plan Qyburn or get out.”
Qyburn bowed deeply “Of course Your Grace, I would merely like to suggest I’ve heard rumors of a certain captain who controls quite the fleet could be contracted to fight the war against the Greyjoy pretender for us.”
“The coffers are empty, the lines of credit maxed and we no longer have Littlefinger to pull gold out of his arse. How to you expect to pay for this sellsail?” Oberyn borely stated.
“That is the great thing about this captain my Lord” Qyburn addressed the entire table. “He doesn’t require much, just the open seat here as Master of Ships and one other thing.” And Qyburn smiled.
Ned turning to Robert also saw the king smiling, he clearly knew of this beforehand. “Hire the pirate, this meeting is adjourned.”

Ned rose and strode out of the chamber. As Ned walked back to the Tower of the Hand, Ser Barristen Selmy stepped out a training session and walked over to Ned.
“Lord Hand, it is a pleasure seeing you today.” Ser Barristen greeted him.
“And you to Lord Commander, I trust you are well?” Ned replied, meaning it. Ser Barristan was one of the few men he trusted completely in Kings Landing and the sooner he could fill the Kingsguard, the sooner Selmy’s advice could be heard in the small council again.
“Quite well, and I believe I have a solution to our missing Kingsguard.”
Ned perked up, “Please tell, we need your voice in the small council Barristen.”
Barristen smiled “Your daughter will not like this, but I need your instructor Syrio Forel to protect the king and train my troops.”

07-01-2015, 09:03 PM
“That old bastard!” the king exclaimed.
Ned agreed, but attempted to sooth Robert, “We need him Your Grace, without his men and the Twins as a medium to get northern armies to the battlefield, I fear we will lose this war.”
“I am his king and he should do as I say without blackmailing me with this proposal.”
“The kingdom needs a queen and with you legitimizing Gendry, you do not even have to bed the girl.” Ned almost added that his brother in law Edmure said the girl is quite beautiful when he saw her during negotiations, but the last beautiful queen Robert did not bed was still fresh in his mind.
Robert sighed and poured himself a glass of wine. Looking at it wistfully he said “Amazing I used to drink tankards of this a day, how could I be so blind Ned? Of course I’ll marry the girl, we need that passage.”
“I will send the delegation to retrieve the girl Your Grace,” Ned replied, exhaling as he expected a much tougher time convincing the king of this alliance, “Is there anything else?”
Robert now looked at him with a grin, “Yes Ned, even with this alliance we are only evenly matched with the Tyrell and Lannister force. I have an idea to tip the balance to our side and it begins with Axell Florent and righting a Targaryen wrong from long ago.”

Robb Stark as Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, a brilliant tactician undefeated in battle, and popular figure who will rule with honor.
Myrcella Baratheon as Queen of the Realm, Tywin's price to Robb for backing him to the throne. Cersei minus the "bitch".

Tywin Lannister as the Hand of the King, an intelligent, ruthless, wealthy advisor to the young king. Master strategist.
Stannis Baratheon as Master of Ships, a battle hardened general and will command the armies and navies of the seven kingdoms.
Petyr Baelish as Master of Whisperers, plotting the destruction of my enemies, whilst using his spies to gather information.
Lady Melisandre as the Red Priestess, there to use her magic to tip the balance of power, eliminating pretenders to the throne.
Catelyn Stark as council to the King, with a ban on her visiting the dungeons so that she doesn't release any key prisoners.

Brynden Tully as the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, a great and worthy Knight to protect and lend expertise to my King.
Gregor Clegane as Kingsguard known for his size and his excellent warrior instincts, making him the most feared man in Westeros.
Loras Tyrell as Kingsguard beloved by the people, a very skilled warrior and one of the best jousters in the seven kingdoms.
Qhorin Halfhand as Kingsguard so skilled that he's the most feared crow among the wildlings even after losing fingers and switching hands.

King Jon "Snow"
Queen Yara Greyjoy

Jon Snow's parentage has long been in question and if it is revealed to be what many believe it to be, he's got just as good a claim to the throne as almost anyone. I believe Yara and Jon to be a strong match. Jon has shown a taste for wild women and I believe Yara would marry if someone was willing to pay the iron price. This is a marriage that I think could work on all levels, as Jon is a strong enough warrior to stick with Yara on the battlefield and Jon might be pretty enough for Yara to actually swoon.

Hand of the King Tyrion Lannister
Master of Whisperers The Queen of Thorns, Olenna Tyrell
Grand Maester Aemon Targaryen
Master of Laws Roose Bolton
Master of Ships Doran Martell

Tyrion has an affection for cripples, bastards, and broken things and would happily join Jon's cause. Tyrion is surprisingly quite good at playing the game and brings a strong family name to the Hand position. Olenna is another strong political maneuver-er and is the one that truly pulls the strings for House Tyrell. With House Tyrell in tow here, any army would be well-fed and well garrisoned, as the Tyrells have the largest navy and army. Add the Greyjoy fleet and this navy is unmatched. Aemon brings the most experience in all of Westeros, having been around court in his youth, and also has all the talents of a maester. This also gives Jon a link to the his heritage that he previously lacked. Roose Bolton is widely regarded as one of the best military minds in Westeros and he's got the cold cunning and strategy to advise Jon to victory in any war. Doran Martell is very good at playing the long-term game and is skilled in diplomacy. He's also the leader of Dorne, which has never been conquered by a foreign entity and has great relations with the free cities.

Ser Bronn of the Blackwater
Lord Commander Grey Worm
Greatjon Umber
Wun Wun

This kingsguard is a little different from your classic kingsguard. Rather than having four great knights, Jon has elected to surround himself with warriors that he knows are fit to serve him. Ser Bronn comes from nothing and is a former sellsword of great skill and cunning. He would be able to recognize other threats from his background. Being chosen as commander of the unsullied, Grey Worm is definitely one of the greatest warriors Slaver's Bay has to offer and would make a fine choice for Lord Commander as he would definitely take his role seriously. The Greatjon is fiercely loyal to the Starks and is one of the best warriors the north has to offer. The Red Keep, being built for dragons, would be plenty big enough to house Wun Wun should Jon take the Iron Throne. On the battlefield, Jon being flanked by Wun Wun and Ghost would be enough to scare any army.

Overall, I tried to build with the great houses in mind as you can't win Westeros without the support of the people. With Jon, you have the north already behind him, especially when you add in the Greatjon and Roose as top advisors. Yara would bring the Iron Islands, Olenna brings the Reach, Doran brings Dorne, and Tyrion hails from the west. This leaves the Vale and the Stormlands (and potentially the west as Tyrion doesn't guarantee its fealty).

Jon certainly has the upbringing to become a great leader and I feel that his council has what it takes to get him there as it has experience in Olenna and Aemon, a great diplomat in Doran, a cunning war veteran in Roose, and a stud up-and-comer in Tyrion. His kingsguard has members who can excel in single combat (Bronn and Grey Worm) as well as members who can lead the van and crush opponents on the battlefield (Greatjon and Wun Wun).

07-01-2015, 09:47 PM
Love your council, Grizz. Yara as a Queen isn't something I expected, either!

Am I the only one that can't wait to see who nerv couples up as dany's spouse? Haha

The Queen - Daenerys Targaryen
The King - Renly Baratheon

A ruling party and marriage the people of Westeros can finally adore. At the moment of Robert's death the Lords of Westeros flocked to declare for Renly Baratheon. As charismatic as anyone in the 7 Kingdoms he was adored from many a front. His name and popularity make him the perfect king to sit beside the strong will of Daenerys Targaryen. Mother to the 3 most powerful creatures in the world. Quickly rose to power after her former husbands death. Accumulated wealth, armies, & an almost cult like following in her short rise to power. Daenerys enters Westeros not to play the game of thrones, but to break the wheel and usher in the newest era of Targaryen rule.

Hand of the Queen - Jeor Mormont

Jeor Mormont is as experienced as he is wise. Lead House Mormont under Eddard Stark in Robert's rebellion. Upon declaring himself for the Nights Watch he was selected Lord Commander by his peers. Experienced in war. Experienced in the long winter. Experienced leader. A smart man capable of both tact and force

Master of Shadows - Jaqen H'ghar

A faceless man. Hailing from Braavos and serving in the House of Black and White Jaqen is a formidable asset. Possessing the power to change his appearance whenever necessary Jaqen can provide unmatched intel. This same skill can serve him as an assassin for the crown as well.

Master of Diplomacy - Mance Rayder

The only man to ever unite the free folk. Mance, a former member of The Nights Watch, was the only man alive with both the tact and warriors acumen to bring the wildlings together under one banner. A calm unshakable confidence radiates from Mance at all times. Using this he is adept as both a diplomat and leader. Through him Daenerys will be able to count a host of free folk among her armies.

Master of War & Sea - Balon Greyjoy

The lord of the Iron Islands. The ironborn are as tough and hardy a people as any in Westeros. They also happen to be the best sailors and great house most known for their exploits at sea. A seasoned veteran of war as he fought the Starks & Baratheons following Robert's rebellion. Brings with him perhaps the most capable naval force in Westeros in the Iron Fleet.

Master of Knowledge - Samwell Tarly

Sam the Slayer has finally found the perfect role for him. Perhaps no one in the Seven Kingdoms can match his desire for learning. With the coming winter his knowledge and ability to decipher the past will be irreplaceable. A very intelligent man who also has some experience as a Maester through all that he did for the elderly and blind Maester Aemon.

The Queensguard
Lord Commander Jaime Lannister

Yes, yes I know. Jaime Lannister as lord commander of a guard for a Targaryen. But hey, no one has ever called him a Queenslayer. But Jaime fights for that which he believes in. This Targaryen isn't mad. This Targaryen has living, breathing, dragons. Possibly the most feared single combatant in Westeros. Versus one or many the deathly prowess of Jaime Lannister is known from north to south, east to west. Sworn guardsmen or not being the eldest son of the Lord of Casterly Rock brings with it many advantages.

Tormund Giantsbane

A leader in his own right Tormund is one of the more influential and respected member of the free folk. He has lead men against the wall and been fighting amongst other wildlings and against the Nights Watch all of his life. A large and powerful warrior in his own right. Acts with a sense of honor typically not found north of the wall. And damn the man is funny.

Thoros of Myr & Beric Dondarrion

Two faithful followers of The Lord of Light. Thoros has won many a melee and joust under the reign of Robert Baratheon. His use of flame on his sword has intimidated his enemies from the Siege of Pyke to his victories in The Tourney of the Hand. He also happens to be a Red Priest of R'hllor who has the ability, under the right circumstance, to resurrect the slain from the dead. Thus enters Beric Dondarrion, a knight and lord in banner to the Baratheons. Skilled in combat himself but when teamed with Thoros seems to have gained the favor of The Lord of Light enough to continually be brought back from the dead.

I still don't get how a man can draft no one

07-01-2015, 11:36 PM
Why did people draft guards early? They're the kickers of this draft. 99% of their role is ceremonial.

Because at least half the really cool characters fall best into that role haha

I don't really agree. In this scenario, we are vying to become king. Traditionally, in war time, the kingsguard are like generals for your army. There is definitely good value to be had there with certain characters. Ironically, Jaime has proven to be a pretty poor field commander but was the first kingsguard taken.

07-02-2015, 12:12 AM
I may have joined a little late but I think I have a good chance.

Ooooo shots fired! Really hard to blame Jaime for being a "poor field commander" when the battle in the whispering wood had little to do with bad tactics or planning on his part. The Freys were an unknown and Tywin had the majority of the Lannister forces elsewhere. Plus it was noted in an attempt to kill Robb he cut through his personal guard and killed 3-4 of them himself.

07-02-2015, 12:33 AM
That wasn't really meant to be a slight on you, two-handed Jaime is probably the best fighter in the Seven Kingdoms. Jaime is headstrong and overconfident. Even he admits it after he loses his hand that he starts to calm down and use his brain. He was baited into that battle like a kid with ice cream. He's a great warrior, yes, and he will take down many before being killed/captured as he did in that battle, but you want him in your army, not leading it.

I admittedly may be forgetting something, but I don't think any recent guardsmen have held any position equivalent to general, or near it, while serving, except for perhaps Jaime, a Lannister serving a Lannister (who in the show is more like a lieutenant, if I remember correctly). They have certainly served in the battlefield, and won acclaim there, but they don't really direct troops or anything of the like. They're primarily skilled individual fighters.

DG, nerv, damix, send me your top 4 rankings of everyones elses side, exclude yourself of course

Cig, Paul, vidae, McGee, and anyone else who wants to do their own rankings, feel free to send a PM. Will wait 1 day for all of the rankings to come in.

07-02-2015, 07:34 AM
Not sure if you guys care about my rankings but here they are:

1. dg
2. Damix
3. grizz
4. nerv
5. commie

I probably like commie's team the most except for one glaring fact that drops him to the bottom. Having Melisandre and Stannis together in Kings Landing (with Stannis not being king) pretty much guarantees Robb's death by his own counsel imo. If we are to assume that history and claims to the throne don't exist (and maybe you guys discussed ignoring that?), then I'd move his team from 5 to 1.

07-02-2015, 08:32 AM
I think, with everyone being alive, that claims to the Throne are a difficult thing to try and negotiate in this sort of draft. For instance, Stannis has zero claim with Robert being alive on Damix's side. I think its more of a case of the throne being up for the taking as a sort of free for all, and rightful claims being thrown out the window as everyone drafted is firmly in the corner of the monarch they were taken to support.

Edit: At least, to the furthest extent of realism. I'm not saying that Littlefinger and Melisandre would be BFFs in their unyielding devotion toward Robb, just that the general idea is that they're both working toward getting Robb on the throne and keeping him there, just as Varys is behind Margaery and Drogo for DG or powerful families are behind a bastard in Jon for Grizz.

07-02-2015, 01:31 PM
Yea I think you basically have to treat this like all the characters had their memories wiped of previous relationships and you're drafting their characteristics/resources. Otherwise people would just draft groups from the show instead of the best individuals. Stannis would be loyal to Robb like he was loyal to Robert.

07-02-2015, 05:44 PM
To be clear, I'm ranking primarily based on the monarchs and council; again, I don't really think the Kings' Guard will make any notable difference in winning and keeping the Throne.

1. Grizz
2. Commie
3. DG
4. Nerv
5. Damix

Best council in the draft, although Roose's and Doran's titles don't necessarily make sense to me. Roose is the biggest risk to have on the Council, because we know given the right incentive, he'll have no qualms about removing Jon as king.

Best Pick: Tyrion. Obviously.
Worst Pick: Yara. She doesn't really contribute anything other than the allegiance of the Iron Islands, who while prone to rebellion, can and have been crushed. You could have her fight perhaps, but putting both the king and queen on the battlefield does not make sense to me.

Could match Grizz's council except for one position. Robb's charisma combined with Tywin's ability would make them perhaps the best King-Hand combination in the draft.

Best Pick: Tywin. With Myrcella ensuring his lasting loyalty, this is a fantastic pick.
Worst Pick: Catelyn. I don't think she offers much as an adviser, and being teamed with Robb makes it even worse. She is going to always advise the most conservative, protective choice available, regardless of whether that is the right choice. And to be clear, I'm assuming Commie is choosing peak show Stannis. If he's choosing the Stannis whose army had their resources destroyed by twenty men without catching a single one, whose army then was halved by desertion the next night (again, without anyone knowing until daylight), and who then led his small, unsupplied army out into the wide open to launch a siege, and was completely befuddled that the opposing army wouldn't just let that happen, Stannis would actually be the worst pick.

3. DG
Hottest monarch combo in the draft.

Best Pick: Tycho. I think this may be a very underrated pick. You can't win or defend a throne without money, and DG has picked the best money manager who also has the deepest pockets.
Worst Pick: Davos. Davos is honorable and trustworthy, but it's very hard for me to see Davos capable of managing an entire kingdom. I know he advised Stannis, but that is a completely different type of work than what he'd be doing as Hand.

4. Nerv
Dany and her dragons aligned with the Baratheons? This should have been so much better.

Best Pick: Dany. Motherfucking dragons. Even if I do think she'd end up as the Mad Queen.
Worst Pick: Faceless man. To be clear, "Jaqen H'ghar" is an identity, not a person. How would this even work? We've seen nothing from the faceless men that indicates that they'd be willing to run a spy network. And while they do perform kills, you can't really employ them as royal assassins: by nature they have no loyalty, and they're just as likely to kill Dany as they would be Dany's enemies. Maybe I'm hating too much on this pick, but this pick alone is why I put an otherwise great team at 4 out of 5.

5. Damix
Overall, meh on the council. Also, if Varys is remotely good at what he does, which he is, Qyburn can't just "pick up" his network. He'll have to identify who is actually in Varys' network, and create completely new relationships with them.

Best Pick: Ned. Fantastic Hand, although there will always be the risk that his honor will impede his effectiveness.
Worst Pick: Robert. Great commander, terrible King. Plus, to be clear, he will have to bed Roslin at least once in order to consummate the marriage.

07-02-2015, 08:03 PM
I'm leaving for vacation in a couple hours and won't be around again until Sunday so I'm making my big analysis post now. Spoilered because its big and because I don't want to impact other people that may still be ranking.

In order to determine my rankings, I went through and actually matched up each position how I thought they fit best and then ranked them. I then added up all the rankings and whoever had the lowest got the vote. Here is the result of those rankings and explanations for each:

1. Daenerys Targaryen - In the grand scheme of things, she has the best claim based on her birthright. There is some question as to whether women can inherit or whatever but being the only known Targaryen (well...nobody took Viserys sooo we'll say she is), she gets it. Also, dragons.
2. Robert Baratheon - He's not much of a ruler but considering he's already conquered Westeros once, I'd say he can do it again.
3. Robb Stark - While he doesn't really have any sort of birth claim to the throne, Robb has shown a strong military acumen and he descends from the great kings in the North.
4. Jon Snow - If his birth is what is heavily rumored, one could argue he has the BEST claim to the throne being a male heir. He also grew up next to Robb and was said to equal/surpass him so one would think he's got a similar aptitude as a warrior. That being said, he's commonly known as a bastard and that would make him a tough sell to the majority of people.
5. Margaery Tyrell - Margaery's family's claim to the Reach is questionable and she has zero claim to the Iron Throne without marrying into it.

1. Renly Baratheon - The public adores Renly and he's extremely well-liked. He would also bring much of the Stormlands and the Reach due to his popularity.
2. Khal Drogo - A great warrior with a huge khalasar behind him. I don't think his brand of war would work too well in the Seven Kingdoms but there's something to be said about the size of his army. Bonus points for pairing him with the Tyrells, who have access to the largest naval fleet in the Seven Kingdoms and would actually be able to get his army across the narrow sea.
3. Yara Greyjoy - Yara descends from one of the old, great families and brings the Iron Fleet with her. She is a formidable warrior in her own right, to boot.
4. Myrcella "Baratheon" - Myrcella's value lies solely with her name and family but even that is tenuous as people discover her true parentage.
5. Roslin Frey - Roslin brings little to the table and would probably cause many of the other great lords to feel slighted as a lesser house is suddenly elevated to queen.

Best Royalty:
1. nerv (2)
2-5. Comahan/Grizz/dg151/Damix (7)

Hand of the King
1. Tywin Lannister - Experienced and intelligent. Tywin is one of the best hands the realm has ever seen and you could argue that the Targaryen's downfall began the second Tywin stepped down as Hand of the King.
2. Tyrion Lannister - Much to Tywin's displeasure, Tyrion is the more like Tywin than any of his children. He's got a sharp wit and is surprisingly quite good at politics and playing the game.
3. Ser Davos Seaworth - Davos is an honorable and loyal man that sticks to his principals and has shown to be a very good diplomat. His low birth would be an issue with most lords, but he's shown to be worthy of his role.
4. Oberyn Martell - Oberyn is very intelligent and well-versed in customs of Westeros and the free cities but he's unpredictable, vengeful, and hot-tempered. While he has the acumen to handle this role effectively, I think he's too passionate to perform it at the level of others.
5. Jeor Mormont - Mormont rapidly rose to the rank of Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and seems to be a strong military mind, but he has no experience in diplomacy or politics.

Council Seat
Loosely, Master of Whisperers
1. Varys - Varys knows everything about everyone and is a behind-the-scenes power player when it comes to the game. He's loyal to the realm and will do whatever he can to help put those he considers worthy on the throne.
2. Lord Petyr Baelish - Littlefinger has done well for himself, rising from a lowly birthright to becoming quite a power in the realm. Baelish plays the game well and is very good at manipulating people into doing what he wants, preying on those he deems weak or poor at the game.
3. Olenna Tyrell - The Queen of Thorns has a sharp wit and tons of experience. She understands how the game is played and knows how to play it well.
4. Qyburn - Qyburn seems to have some contacts and seems to be pretty good at manipulation and playing the shadow game but his true value seems to lie in his human experimentation, as he seems to be quite adept as a healer of some sort.
5. Jaqen H'ghar - Jaqen is a master assassin but I'm not entirely sure what else he would bring to the table here. There is something to be said about having a faceless man around to assassinate the opposition, though.

Council Position
Loosely, Grand Maester
1. Maester Aemon Targaryen - Aemon has the most experience of anyone and has the skills of a maester to boot.
2. Lady Melisandre - Melisandre has her red magic to use to help her king achieve greatness.
3. Samwell Tarly - Sam might be the most well-read person in all of Westeros. While he brings little to the table as a warrior or diplomat, his immense knowledge would serve him well and he could easily become the best Maester in the land.
4. Maester Luwin - Maester Luwin is intelligent and loyal and he provides wise council to those he serves.
5. Axell Florent - Honestly, Ser Axell doesn't really fit well in any category and, being a book reader, I know where Damix was going with his selection but, based on the show, he'd be 5 no matter where I put him.

Council Position
Loosely, Master of Laws/War
1. Lord Eddark Stark - Ned might not be the best at playing the game, but when it comes to war, he's one of the best there is. Though he might not admit it, Ned was probably the main reason Robert's rebellion was a success.
2. Roose Bolton - Bolton is a cold, cunning, and calculated man that has a strong military background, having fought in Robert's Rebellion. He quickly becomes one of Robb's top war advisors and maneuvers the political game as well.
3. Stannis Baratheon - Stannis is efficient, effective, and determined leader. He's said to be equally effective as a commander at land and sea. His one weakness is his stubbornness, which is something that ultimately led to his downfall in the show.
4. Mance Rayder - Mance has strong diplomatic skills, given his ability to unite all the clans for the first time in over a century. Given his upbringing and training at the wall, he is likely also a strong warrior, though his army is unorganized and untrained.
5. Ser Rodrik Cassel - Rodrik is the Master-at-arms of Winterfell and is quite the formidable warrior, even at his age. Given how skilled Jon, Robb, and Theon seem to be at arms, he must be quite good as well.

This is a very strong group. I think you could honestly make a case for the 1-4 to be in any order, with Rodrik being the logical 5th.

Council Position
There is no loose position here as there are a mixture of roles across the board.
1. Doran Martell - Doran is the leader of a great house and is arguably the top diplomat in the Seven Kingdoms due to his ability to peacefully resolve domestic matters, while also keeping an active and open relationship with the free cities.
2. Tycho Nestoris - Who better to have managing your finances than a member of the greatest bank in the world?
3. Catelyn Stark - For as much shit as she gets, she's actually not bad at playing the game and gives wise council, if only her family would actually listen to her.
4. Salladhor Saan - Saan brings a nice fleet and all but even with Cersei, I have to question his loyalty.
5. Balon Greyjoy - Balon has now crowned himself King twice and seems to want nothing to do with the land-based kingdoms of Westeros. All he wants to do is get back to the old ways of pillaging and plundering. His only real contribution here would be a strong naval presence.

Best Council:

1. Grizz (10)
2. Comahan (11)
3. dg151 (15)
4. Damix (18)
5. nerv (25)

Continued due to character maximum...

Lord Commander of the Kingsguard
1. Ser Barristan Selmy - Selmy is one of the greatest warriors the Seven Kingdoms has ever seen. In addition, with his experience, he provides wise council in both war and politics that none of these other commanders can offer.
2. Ser Brynden Tully - The Blackfish made a name for himself fighting alongside Selmy back in the War of the Ninepenny Kings. Tully has always taken his role as a knight seriously and is said to possess considerable combat skills and has shown to be a great war advisor.
3. Grey Worm - The Unsullied are considered to be the greatest warriors money has to offer and Grey Worm was selected by them to be their commander. Grey Worm is green in terms of winning battles, but he has the base and aptitude to learn and become a great commander.
4. Ser Jaime Lannister - The Kingslayer is a tough ranking because, as two-handed Jaime, he's probably the best warrior in all of Westeros, but he's also a terrible commander as he doesn't think before he acts. One-handed Jaime is the reverse, someone who flashes as a great commander but can't fight anymore. If he were in any other spot, I would probably rank him at one, but being Lord Commander, I have to knock him down some spots.
5. Ser Jorah Mormont - Jorah has shown to be a competent knight in his past, serving well in the Greyjoy Rebellion and winning the tourney at Lannisport. However, since then, his wife has driven him into financial ruin and exile. While still a strong knight, he has little experience as a commander and his checkered past puts his Westerosi reputation in question.

Kingsguard 1
1. Ser Gregor Clegane - The Mountain that Rides is the most feared knight in all the land. A man with no conscience, unleashing Clegane leaves destruction in his wake.
2. Areo Hotah - Hotah was trained by the Beared Priests of Norvos and is as skilled with the longaxe as any knight is skilled with a sword.
3. Tormund Giantsbane - Tormund is rumored to have slain a giant, earning his namesake. He's quite the tall-talker so there is question as to whether he did or not, but his skills in battle are questioned by no one.
4. Ser Bronn of the Blackwater - Bronn has worked his way up from a lowly sellsword to a landed knight. He has shown he is capable of taking on knights and besting them and while he doesn't fight with honor, he knows how to win.
5. Brienne of Tarth - Brienne fights with honor and is loyal to a fault. What's holding her back is her mind. She questions herself and is a true knight, for better and worse.

Kingsguard 2
1. Daario Naharis - Daario has no noble birth and is not knighted but he grew up fighting in the pits and is skilled in fighting all different walks of life.
2. Ser Loras Tyrell - The Knight of Flowers is said to be on par with Jaime when he was younger. Loras is a naturally skilled fighter who shines on the battlefield.
3. Syrio Forel - Syrio served in a similar position in Braavos but, for whatever reason, no longer serves in that capacity. Syrio is a master swordsman and is super observant, being able to see threats that most would overlook.
4. Greatjon Umber - The Greatjon is said to be as physically imposing as a bear. He typically leads the van in battle and is fiercely loyal.
5. Thoros of Myr - Thoros of Myr and his flaming sword have struck fear in many an enemy. Thoros typically fights in, and wins, most of the tournament melees, showing he is a skilled fighter in close combat and battle. Being a priest of R'hllor gives him added versatility.

Kingsguard 3
1. Wun Wun - Wun Wun would absolutely wreck on the battlefield and would surely make anyone think twice before attacking.
2. Qhorin Halfhand - The Halfhand is one of the most feared members of the Night's Watch. Equally proficient with his left and right hand, Qhorin takes his role with the watch very seriously and is actually willing to die in defense of the realm, something many others haven't shown.
3. Sandor Clegane - The Hound is a strong warrior and one of the few that has shown to be able to match the Mountain. He's also shown to be not quite a terrible person as his brother. His fear of fire is definitely a weakness, though.
4. Ser Arys Oakheart - A current member of the kingsguard, Ser Arys must have shown some sort of valor in the past to be raised to this spot by Robert.
5. Beric Dondarrion - Beric's best quality is likely that, since he's coupled with Thoros, he's basically unkillable. Beric, however, has died many times though so one has to question his abilities as a warrior.

Kingsguard Rankings:
1. Comahan (7)
2. Damix (10)
3. Grizz (12)
4. dg151 (14)
5. nerv (17)

Overall Rankings:
1. Comahan (25)
Truthfully, I don't actually like comahan's council when you look at it as a whole. It has great individual pieces, but I couldn't see a scenario where they actually worked together, particularly Lady Melisandre. Stannis and Melisandre together...yea we saw how that one ended. She would also want Robb to burn the godswood and Robb would basically laugh in her face. He wouldn't give in to any of her sacrifice requests and such and therefore her usefulness would be almost fully negated. Littlefinger is another one that you can never trust. Obviously we're assuming he's fully behind Robb here so I shouldn't be having questions about his loyalty but blegh. Dat kingsguard though...swoon.
2. Grizz (29)
Roose is the biggest wildcard I have. He really doesn't like the Starks and even putting him on the council likely wouldn't keep him fully satisfied and loyal. I think my kingsguard is solid but unspectacular. I think they would be great for war time but if I did actually take the throne, 3/4ths of it would suddenly become rather useless/unhappy. I think Yara falls into the same category, she'd love the conquest and excitement of conquering the throne but would hate the idea of suddenly being a queen and having to bear heirs and such.
3. Damix (35)
I probably like Damix's roster more than most due to the books. I like where he was going with his picks and the narrative he was spinning but I also think his ultimate composition is lacking. I think Oberyn would make a rather poor hand given his temperament. Can't trust pirates. Elevating the Freys to queen would only spark more resentment and sway any fence houses against him.
4. dg151 (36)
I love Margaery and Drogo individually their lack of claim to the throne makes it tough to fully get behind this group conquering Westeros. I think they'd have to take it via brute force as I don't see anyone with strong political sway (sure Varys is great at what he does, but he doesn't really hold sway over the lords).
5. nerv (44)
I love the king and queen pairing but the only person in the entire lineup that even remotely understands and has experience with Westerosi politics is Renly. That being said, I think this could actually be a pretty strong military presence between the Iron Fleet, dragons, the Wildlings, and Mormont in charge. The main issue would be discipline and organization, something Mormont would have to instill on the wildlings, which probably wouldn't go so well given their interest in taking orders from a crow.

My overall rankings seem to match up with my initial react upon seeing the draft end. In all, I think all of these groups could conquer Westeros, but they'd all do it differently. I think comahan and my groups would be able to achieve it with the least bloodshed, being able to diplomatically get a number of houses in line and then defeating the final few in battle. Damix would likely need to simply defend what he already has, which would be no easy task given the armies of the Reach and Lannisters, but given his position, it could be possible. dg has none of the classic powers aligned with him so he would need to rely solely on the power of the Reach's army, plus Drogo's khalasar to take all of Westeros. They'd have the largest army and navy so not an impossible task. nerv would pretty much take it the same way the Targaryens took it in the first place. Dragons.

Writeups very much appreciated!

I'm legit shocked at how much people liked the Tycho pick. He's someone I wanted since the draft started but wasn't sure how it would play.

I definitely wish I could switch up Melisandre now that we're done. I had a different plan for her that would have been a much better fit, but the draft fell differently and I had to go in a new direction. My weak ass Melisandre justification now is that Tywin has promised her a temple to the Red God in Kings Landing where she can preach her faith to the Lord of Light on a grand stage in Westeros. I honestly don't know enough about her or the Thrones universe to know if shed completely scoff at that, but it sounds fine in my head!

Rough thoughts from a guy whose theories tend to involve Shaggydog:

Commie - Lot of big names in there, and most of it just works for me, Melisandre being the one that kind of sticks out. Stannis was a good get.

DG - A powerful, ambitious royalty that is a bit different from what we've seen as claimants. Would be an interesting rule. Margaery with Davos seems like it could be good for the common folk, at least. There are some strong resources here. The council is very good. I like the Queensguard for the most part, so long as Daario isn't trying to bang the queen.

Grizz - Straight up, the group makes me nervous. Everyone you draft is super likable, and then you drop the biggest traitor we know in there. How could it end well in this universe! But seriously, Roose is a fine strategist in his own right, and your council is altogether very wise and diverse. The support at the top could be iffy, so your royalty would definitely need the help.

Damix - King Robert, eh? Big fan of the Ned pick and I'll show some love to working Salladhor in there. Had to look up who Axell was, to be honest. Very solid Kingsguard.

nerv - All the charisma in the world for your royal couple. Definitely picked a lot of cool people. Jaime is solid and I love Tormund, but it feels a bit disjointed on the whole.
